Many of us have
seen the movie and may feel that Russell Crowe was a compelling Noah. Whether the producers took liberties with the
script can always be debated. But the
facts are: Noah built an ark and eight humans, along with many animals were
saved. Also, Noah preached rain and
flood as he and his family continued to build seventy years—until the day they
entered the ark and the Creator himself shut the door.
Imagine the faith
necessary for this assignment. Never had
it rained, yet you are assigned to construct a mammoth boat in the vision of self-proclaimed
comedians and actual violent men. You
see evidence of physical violence daily and probably experience yourself daily
mental harassment before your loved ones—your family; your wife, sons and their
wives. Yet, with a strong faith in God you continue.
Why didn’t the
rest of his family or the family of his son’s wives enter the ark too? Could it have been the peer pressure of not
appearing foolish?
Well, we need not
to go back into history to place ourselves in their shoes for Matthew 24:37-39
says:
“For just as the days of Noah were, so the
presence of the Son of man will be. For as they were in those days before
the Flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage,
until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and they took no note until
the Flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will
be.”
The difference
between time periods is this: When Noah exited the Ark, the world eventually
became filled again with violence. Isn’t
that where we are today? However, after
the Great Day of God Almighty, never again will violence and suffering enter
the earth.* Man will have the opportunity to live forever in paradise, not die
off as Noah did.
Yet, the
opportunity to talk with Noah himself; share survival experiences can be yours
as the Bible foretells a resurrection back to earth, of both ‘righteous’
persons, such as Noah and his family and ‘unrighteous’ people—those who didn’t
know Jehovah, so didn’t follow Bible principles.* They will be allowed the
opportunity, under beautiful peaceful conditions, to come to know their
heavenly Father, as did Noah.

Constant pounding and proclaiming.
Lord Almighty! His words so draining.
There's a party everywhere.
Why such dire words said to scare?
Can one man proceed so strong
amidst this mighty vicious throng?
Does his family even care
their reputations thus to spare?
Surely, who is he to see
a future dark through prophecy?
Look around you, who does shutter
at these thoughts you choose to mutter?
If I enter that wooden door
just to take a little peek
all my friends and even strangers
will consider me as weak.
But as I watch him carry onward
in intensity he does perform
an enormous occupation
as if for this case he were born.
Could his work, his proclamation
really fill our needs, this void?
Rid the land of degradation?
Can destruction I too avoid?
If I wait closely in shadows
listening for the final horn...
No, I'd much rather chance a deluge
than face their ridicule and scorn.
